To promote their staff scheduling software, Deputy asked us to help them create a case study video featuring one of their flagship clients, CitizenM hotels. The video needed to present the specific challenges faced by different members of the CitizenM team, and illustrate how Deputy was uniquely positioned to help them overcome these challenges.
In addition to the video, Deputy also required a range of supporting stills, captured during the same shoot in parallel with the filming. With the hotel being busy and fully operational, we needed to work quickly, effectively, and with minimal disruption.
The plan for the shoot was to spend a day filming at a specific CitizenM hotel in London.
Prior to this taking place, we spent some time talking with the team both at Deputy and at CitizenM to fully understand their story. This allowed us to then create questionnaires tailored to each specific interviewee, to help us capture the strongest possible content. Knowing that we’d have limited time on-site, we also created a rough shot list, covering both videography and photography, to help us work most effectively on the day.
On the shoot day itself, we filmed each staff member using the Deputy software, and captured a variety of vibrant, cinematic shots showcasing the hotel environment. This was visually striking with a lively atmosphere, making it a great location for a video case study.
Supporting photography was conducted alongside the video, ensuring we used everyone’s time most efficiently and only used each area of the hotel for the shortest time possible.
The bank of video footage allowed us to create a punchy 2-minute edit clearly showcasing the positive impact Deputy had on the operations of CitizenM. By using some simple branded text overlays, the video emphasised key benefits of the software whilst also reinforcing the Deputy brand aesthetic.
The video was well-received by the team at Deputy, as well as CitizenM. By using a video case study to bring a customer success story to life, Deputy was able to extend the reach of their product to a broad range of prospective customers facing similar challenges.
